Miljøledelse

Det å jobbe med miljøledelse har bare blitt viktigere og viktigere for de fleste virksomheter.

Blant annet ønsker virksomheten selv å bidra til et bedre miljø, krav fra ansatte om å bidra til lokalmiljøet, kundeønsker og krav fra det offentlige.

Det er mange forskjellige miljømerker man kan velge mellom. De miljømerkene som i dag er mest anerkjent er de internasjonale sertifiseringene ISO 14001 og EMAS og det nasjonale miljømerket Miljøfyrtårn.

For at man skal kunne drive en god miljøledelse er man avhengig av å innlemme arbeidet i virksomhetens eksisterende kvalitetssystemer. Det innebærer at bedriften må ha et kvalitetssystem i bånd for å kunne jobbe godt med miljøledelse.

ISO 14001 er et internasjonal standard på et miljøledelsessystem. Det inngår i ISO 14000 serien.

Etableringen av standarden ble gjort for å hjelpe virksomheter med å minimere miljøpåvirkningen hos hver enkelt bedrift.

Det er oftest større virksomheter som velger å innføre miljøledelsessystem etter ISO 14001. Standarden er meget omfattende og setter krav til god forståelse av standarder generelt og Norsk standard spesielt. Man jobber med miljømerkinger, retningslinjer, prinsipper, rammeverk og livsløpsvurderinger.

Som internasjonal standard er ISO 14001 anerkjent over hele verden og kan brukes i anbudsrunder opp mot det offentlige.

Miljøfyrtårn er en nasjonal standard på et miljøledelsessystem. Dette er et selvstendig miljøledelsessystem.

Etableringen av standarden ble gjort for å hjelpe virksomheter med å minimere miljøpåvirkningen hos hver enkelt bedrift.

Det er oftest små eller mellomstore virksomheter som velger å innføre miljøledelsessystem etter Miljøfyrtårnstandard. Standarden er god til å jobbe seg inn mot internkontrollforskriften og forurensingsloven. Den setter som krav at man har et eksisterende ledelsessystem før man gjennomfører sertifiseringen. Miljøfyrtårn er ikke like omfattende som ISO 14001 og gjør det derfor lettere å få grep på hva virksomheten har av miljøutfordringer. Man jobber blant annet med systemer innad i virksomheten, innkjøp, transport og avfall.

Selv om Miljøfyrtårn er en nasjonal standard, er den anerkjent av EMAS. Dette innebærer at man kan bruke miljømerkingen i hele Europa, samt i anbudsrunder opp mot det offentlig sektor.
